Mesut Özil rejects Arsenal’s contract extension, Barcelona make contact [Marca] Saturday, February 13th, 2016 By   Paul 5  Comments  Spain’s top sport dailies drop a bombshell for Arsenal fans this morning, claiming that Mesut Ozil has rejected Arsenal’s contract extension offer. Both  Sport  and  Marca  claim that the German World Cup winner has rejected the offer to extend beyond 2018, when his current deal finishes. The reason? Ozil feels that Arsenal haven’t made the development or progress he’d hoped for upon joining in the summer of 2013, and remain stuck in Europe’s 2nd tier, behind giants Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. With that in mind, Ozil is now seriously contemplating leaving Arsenal for a more ambitious club, and according to Marca, he has a suitor in Barcelona.
