Mysterious sea creature washes ashore in Australia

A bizarre sea creature has washed up on the shore of an Australian lake - leaving locals baffled. 
The “sea monster” that has a body like an eel but a head more like a crocodile washed ashore Lake Macquarie in New South Wales yesterday. 
Experts suggested the underwater creature was a nocturnal feeding pike eel.
Father Ethan Tipper was stunned when he found the creature and posted a photo of it to Facebook. 
The image of the creature has been shared over 1,600 times on social media since yesterday. 
However, it has divided opinion online - with some believing it has been photoshopped, while others suggested it could be a large hairtale, similar to a cutlassfish.
Australian Museum ichthyology manager Mark McGrouther told Australian media the creature appeared to be a nocturnal feeding pike eel.
Feeding pikes can grow to 1.8m in length and have a long slender jaw with large teeth.
